For the academic year 2012-2013, tuition is $15,500.

There is an additional, nonrefundable reservation fee of $250 payable upon preliminary acceptance into the program. Payment of the reservation fee allows the UVEI staff to begin the process of identifying a mentor for each principal intern and to work with the school district to ensure that the internship has received the support of the school, the district, and the school board.

District Support

In a school district where a principal intern is currently employed as a teacher, guidance counselor, acting principal, etc and has received the support of the district for training and licensure as a school leader, arrangements may be made for the district to subsidize all or part of the tuition costs and/or to continue the principal intern at full or part-time salary while they complete the program. Interns are often asked by the district to commit themselves to serve the district for a period of time in exchange for this support. Other interns are able to apply for a sabbatical leave for the year in which they are enrolled in the internship. More information on such options is available on the menu item entitled, "Pathways to School Leadership."

You can also speak with your distriict's superintendent about funds that will be forthcoming from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for staff development.

Financial Aid

The financial aid begins with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (the FAFSA). We recommend applying online at the FAFSA website, www.fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure to list UVEI's school code, 034373, in the appropriate space on the application. After your application has been processed, UVEI will receive the Student Aid Report and will work with each intern to help make UVEI program financially feasible.

"The Survival Skills in thinking and problem solving that today's students need (and society requires) will only come from schools led by educators who embrace 21st Century challenges. UVEI is preparing such school leaders."
