Tuition, Costs and Financial Aid

Tuition

For the academic year 2012-2013, tuition is $15,000.

Costs

There is an additional, non-refundable reservation fee of $250 payable upon preliminary acceptance into the program.  Payment of the reservation fee allows UVEI's program directors to begin searching for an intern placement for the applicant. Interns are also responsible for paying for the Praxis test, which is required by the state for certification.

Financial Aid

UVEI offers its own Byrne Scholarships to qualified interns. Funding sources also include federal Title IV funds (Stafford Loans and Pell Grants) and local, state, and national scholarship programs.

The financial aid process begins with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We recommend applying online at the FAFSA web site, www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Be sure to list UVEI's school code, 034373, in the appropriate space on the application. After your application has been processed, UVEI will receive the Student Aid Report and will work with you to put together an aid package, making every effort to make UVEI financially feasible for you.

Many candidates ask if it is possible to defray expenses by holding a part-time job while enrolled at UVEI.  The program is so demanding that it is generally unrealistic to attempt other work during the ten-month internship, but call the office to discuss this in more detail.

"I always wanted to teach. I love spending time with children and I know I can make a difference in an elementary school classroom."
